I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. . .
Hello people of the internet how are you this fine Saturday evening? I hope you are all doing quite well, because I have something nothing short of interesting to share with you. First of all the gates of Hell City have finally been reached and you can perhaps very vividly within your own heads imagine me walking out in a triumphant strut. Behind me is burning chaos of fire that consumes everything and every dead person that represent ounces of my stress. They all are ablaze as the gates now seal forever (at least until Finals start).
I also have to apologize yet again. I now I haven’t posted anything in forever. But my excuse this time is that the wifi that surrounds my house has apparently been having some technical difficulties. That and add the fact that I’m literally reading two books weekly for two different classes! @_@ (that’s my overwhelmed face). . . yeah. . . you can say that even after midterms things haven’t slowed down.
But anyway, I think to redeem my lack of professionalism and promise to update every Saturday I have to give you my best effort at entertaining you. So I will start by talking about what happened to me Monday of two weeks ago. ready? Ok.
I do not know if you recall an earlier post dealing with me running around like a lunatic at my school? If you don’t it should be TWO posts before this one. Well at any rate, a similar unfortunate event happened to me two weeks ago. :)
I live in San Diego, and the way I commute to school and back home is by trolley. Two trolleys and a bus to be exact To ride these modes of transportation everyone requires what’s called a compass card as a valid fare. To get one, you need 7 bucks, plus 5 or 9 or 12 or 15 or 60 additional dollars depending on how many days you require it either for a day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, or for an entire month. I always buy 4 days.
SO . . . this is where my dilemma started:
- After I finish school I go home. Get on the trolley towards downtown. I put on my earphones and start listening to Trashing Days by The Notwist.
- There I am, minding my own business with my Compass Card tucked neatly inside my sweater pocket.
- The trolley arrives at my stop. I get up off my seat and take my hand (that’s inside my sweater pocket) and right when I step out of the trolley, I hear a tiny, flat item hit the ground. I stop, I turn around.
- The crowd of people hurrying to get on the other trolley is rushing passed me and I begin to panic because when I reach into my pocket I expect to find my compass card. . . my pocket is empty.
- I start to sweat as I walk upstream, up to where I thought I heard my card hit the ground. Instead I find this very tall man probably in his mid 40’s talking in some strange language that I think comes from somewhere in the middle east. He’s in a hurry. Yet he looks directly at me, starts talking to me very quickly and points somewhere far, as if to another person waking off with something that belongs to me . . . as if he tells me “That person stole your Compass Card. You can’t get it back anymore, bye bye!” then he runs off.
- Everything happens so fast. I don’t know what to think other than “WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED? WHAT THE F**K? SH*T! NOO!!!”
- I try to hold my cool. I figured it was no use. There were at least forty people walking in the direction that man supposedly saw the thief run off with my dropped item. So I just stand there looking like an idiot for a minute or two, and I’m panting.
- Instead of actually DOING SOMETHING, I just continue walking to my other trolley. But when I get to the proper transfer station, I sit at a bench, realizing something. “Maybe I still have another 20!” I take out my wallet. Open it up. . . nothing. NOTHING!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!???
- I panic again. I tell myself “think, Gabriel. Think. It’s no use saying something to the authorities because they won’t do a thing. The guy or women who stole it is probably far away by now. You don’t have any more money to buy a new one. And if the trolley police (yes. There is an actual trolley police here believe it or not) catches me riding without a valid fare, I’ll get in trouble. They’ll take me to a cell and make me pay some ridiculous fee. So WHAT IN THE WORLD DO YOU DO!?”
- I lift my head from my palms and I put on a face. One that I really really really RARELY put on: the face of Badassdom. The face of a complete delinquent. The face of a Shits-About-To-Get-Real, Badassdom Delinquent rebel who’s about to run from the law!!!!! . . . yeah. THAT FACE!
- I stand up. I calm myself. Put on my backpack. Walk a couple of steps forward. Put my hands around my back. Clench my jaw. Make my eyelids heavy. And turn my head to the trolley that is coming my way and as it passes me, I turn my head forward. When it stops, I’m looking directly in front of the door. It opens and I stand my ground for a second looking at the steps thinking to myself: “The time has come, my dear friend . . .”
- I step in and find a lone seat. As I sit down I lay my backpack on my lap and take a deep breath. The adrenaline starts to kick in. the chances are remote that the trolley police WON’T get on and check me at ANY POINT in time for the duration of my journey home. . . but I make the dangerous decision to stay on anyway. (Oh yes. I’m such a bad ass)
- The trolley starts to move and when I look at both ends of my cart, the side of my lip lifts and my brows slant. “So it begins,” I think.
- THEN, as the trolley rounds the first station in the city, my journey seems to face the first obstacle. I look out the window and jump. There are two police men, ready with their small handheld devices they use to check the compass cards. My heart starts racing! I look at the door as it opens and then back at them. I stand but then something peculiar happens. The two men don’t get on. I sit back down. Slowly. Very slowly. I wait for the longest second of my life and every sound seems to dim away . . . the doors of the trolley close. And the two men remain standing, looking directly AT me. Then the trolley moves again.
- I sit back, thinking. “Was that luck? Or was it . . . some sort of coincidence?”
- I realize it must be luck the ore stations I pass because not a SINGLE policeman gets on my cart and checks me. NOT ONE!
- The adrenaline that shoots through my veins starts to cease and my sweat fades. I start to doubt the easiness of this difficult journey being mere coincidence because as the trolley leaves the city and heads farther down, I realize that I might just make it home unnoticed. No. it’s not coincidence. It’s LUCK!
- I smile at this fact.
- At the moment I realize me getting caught isn’t going to happen I put on my earphones again and listen to Day 7 by the Notwist. (I really like that group. They calm me down)
- Then . . . . . . . . . . .
- About two stops before mine, I lift my head from the window and look away from the mesmerizing view when I hear something that makes me crinnnnnnnngggggeeeeeee: “PLEASE TAKE OUT YOUR PASSES OR TICKETS!! TICKETS AND PASSES!!”
- I think “Sh*t . . .” my heart starts to race again, I grab my back pack and look to the end of the cart. There was one man checking everyone. I look to the other end. There was another one. I was directly in the middle, which was good because that gave me enough time for me to get out. But as soon as I stand up to race towards the door, they close. I press the button for them to open again. But as soon as my finger presses it, the trolley moves. “NO! NO NO!!” I think. I turn to the sides. The two men are getting closer!
- I look directly in front of me. And my eyes close. “That’s it. I tried. Any moment now, one of the men will tap my shoulder and they’ll ask for the very thing that got stolen from me by some thief. . . it’s over.”
- I wait. The train’s momentum makes my body sway back and forth. The music is so soothing to me and the a/c makes my hair sway and dance on my head. I give a little nod and accept defeat.
- Then the trolley stops and my eyes open when I hear “excuse me.”
- I open my eyes and look to my sides. BOTH policemen ask me to move away. I do. And they walk down the steps and out into the station . . . without asking me a single . . . thing. The doors close and the trolley moves. I stand there, my jaw hanging open, my eyes unable to blink. Everything dims again, every sound ceases to exist. But not because of adrenaline. If not, of an innumerable amount of awe. “I made it,” I kept thinking. “It was like I was invisible . . . I’m a survivor. . . I’m going to be OKAY!!!” I smile :)
- The trolley rounded my station. The doors opened and I walked down the steps and as soon as my feet stepped on the black top I felt the rush of the wind and the rays of the sun hit me. As if I made it out of some sort of action movie, I begin walking. Like a complete and utter delinquent rebel of Badassdom. ;)
Yep. Believe it or not, that’s what happened to me that Monday. Pretty funny how EVERYTHING happens to me on that day. If I recall, my previous dilemma happened on a Monday, if I’m not mistaken. Or was it a Wednesday? I don’t remember. The point is the first three days of the week for me always tend to be pretty dramatic and eventful. But somehow I always pull through. I’m a survivor, whether it is out of sheer luck or not. I am :) and I’m proud.
Let’s see. What other things can I talk about that happened to me lately?
OH YES!!!
Now, I need to be very frank with you. I’m a good student. I get A’s and B’s. I’ve only gotten C’s twice in my life. Never D’s or F’s. . . In high school that is.
In COLLEGE, however, all of that changes. I’m serious. Everything changes. I made it out of Hell City, but like every war, not one soldier comes out undamaged.
I’m failing 2 of my classes, you guys :/
2!!!! And there’s not a lot of time left for me to pick them up!! With finals around the corner, they can either stay F’s or turn into something much more impressive.
And like everything else in my life that is school related, my stress levels go off the charts. So it is pointless to say that I’M DYING AT THE MOMENT!!!! >_<
That was the MAIN reason why I didn’t post something LAST week, particularly. I just spent the entire weekend worrying and being depressed about what to do. I literally spent the entirety of those two days in my bed with a horrible face. And when my mother saw me she asked me what was wrong. I told her my problem . . . and then she told me something that I want to share with you guys and gals.
Whenever you find yourself having trouble with school or with your relationships or WHATEVER it may be this is what you have to keep in mind. NOT VERYTHING IN LIFE IS GOING TO TURN OUT THE WAY YOU PLAN IT TO BE!!! It’s just a matter of time before something goes wrong. The key is to learn from those mistakes and understand that making mistakes is what school’s about . . . heck, that’s what LIFE’S about! In my case, I have to learn to deal with getting a bad grade. Because I’m a nerd, I’m so used to getting A’s and B’s because that’s my way of knowing that my life is under control.
But that’s not always going to be the case, and i’m learning that this semester. I know now that when things turn out wrong I take it to the breaking point and I get so so so dramatic and think the world is going to end. But no! As a wise man once told me, what I’m dealing with now is not a problem. It’s an inconvenience. A problem is being diagnosed with cancer. A problem is finding out how you’re going to deal with the death of a family member. A problem is stressing over how you are going to feed yourself and your family. A problem is getting your identity stolen, or learning how to walk again after a major accident, or learning how to write without the proper limbs, or being stalked, or hiding from the law, or losing your child, or being kidnapped, becoming deaf after surviving an explosion, or waking up from a coma. . . THOSE are problems. Going through a break up, or family drama, or losing your trolley compass card, even getting an F is an INCONVENIENCE!! And we absolutely HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO learn that -___-
So if you’re going through an inconvenience, just stop and think “Okay. . . What’s the worst thing that can happen? If I get an F/ break up with my boyfriend or girlfriend, I’ll just try again/ work on enjoying time with myself/ WHATEVER it may be!”
And I learned this when this happened:
Mom – “what’s wrong?”
Me – “I have an F”
Mom – 0_0 “REALLY!!???” *runs up and hugs me* “CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR FIRST F, I’M SO PROUD!”
Me – O.o . . . . . . .“Yeah. You’re right. Thank you.”
You all see what I’m saying? Maybe? Now, if some of you are dealing with actual problems at the moment then I want to let you know that the best way to deal with it take the situation AS IF it were an inconvenience. I think that by doing this, your subconscious mind may start to think that it is not as bad as it seems and then this will trigger another thing: hope. Hope is important. And don’t be like me and LOSE it like I did with my Compass card. They’re two different things. If you lose hope, then maybe you won’t even get off the trolley. I didn’t lose hope and look at what happened? I got off and got home safe and sound.
Hope is important. Don’t lose it and things WILL work out. :)
On another note SPEAKING OF HOPE BEING THE STRONGEST THING!!!! CATCHING F***EN FIRE COMES OUT ON THURDAY! OH MY GERD OH MY GERD I AM SO READY OR THIS MOVIE!!!
I read all three in a month and I loved them!!!! Such a rush!!! And I know the movie will be unforgettable >8) SO BRING IT ON, BEATCHES!!
Who’s going to see it in IMAX!? Who’s got their tickets already? I AM AND I DO!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH!! AND ANOTHER THING!!!! THE GOVERNOR IS BAAAACKKK!!!!! I don’t know if y’all watch probably one of the best shows of all time, THE WALKING DEAD, but I DO! AND THE GOVERNOR OF WOODBURY IS BACK!!!!! :’’’’’’))))))
I hate that man so much, and he’s back to EFF things up for Rick and the group. And YOU KNOW it’s going to get CARRRAAAAYYYYZEEEEEE!!!!!
I can’t wait for tomorrow night!!!
I hope this post was entertaining enough. I know I’ve been lagging it to the absolute max. But bear with me, my lovely people. I’m trying my best. I haven’t forgotten about you AT ALL!!! Remember, you all are my online friends. :)
Unless I lose my arms in an accident, I would never forget about typing or writing . . . like EVER!
It’s the only way of keeping my sanity.
And with that I say Mischief Managed . . . bye now ;)
